FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com

President's Message

The post fundraiser hang over is only cured by one thing. Hair of the dog called “more service projects and doing good for our community!” On Saturday we had a small but effective group who helped sweep the hooch of trash and debris. Then another small group of Roswell Rotarians helped install grab bars at Johnathan Crooks home in anticipation of him going back to his home on Thursday following a long bout with Covid. I was fortunate to spend time with his son in law. Jonathan’s family is extremely grateful for all the prayers and support from his Roswell Rotary family.

September 21 on the International Day of Peace our club has 6 local High schools participating in the in The Youth & Peace in Action Kick-off. This is open to all Roswell Rotarians, and I encourage everyone to participate in one of the Virtual 1 Hour Livestream Broadcasts. Tune in and feel the energy of how our youth are changing the landscape of our community and our country.

See you this week for some fried chicken at Roswell Area Park!

This Week's Speaker
Christie Simons of Atlanta Angels Foster Care Support

Christie Simons, Executive Director of Atlanta Angels Foster Care Support will speak this week on how Atlanta Angels implement their mission to walk alongside children, youth, and families in the foster care community by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

Rotary Found 101 Reason to Walk on Sat, Sep 25, 8:00 – 9:30am
Roswell Rotary Walks with a Doc

While this link lists 100 research articles how walking it good for you, Rotary is making it fun.

We’re joining up with the national “Walk with a Doc” program for a 2 mile and a 3.5 mile walk at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. In addition to the 100 reasons to walk, the 101st is to make room for Roswell Rotary’s fried chicken for lunch.

And there are several bonuses to participating in this community event

• Get advice from this month’s presenter, A Step Ahead’s physical therapist Kim Richards. Before we walk, she’ll give a 10 minute talk on ‘life hacks to keeping you moving pain free.’ She’ll then join us on the walk so that you can talk with her 1-on-1.

• Free admission to the Nature Center, including free parking. And you’re welcome to stay after the walk and enjoy more of the Nature Center’s beautiful and educational facilities.

• Earn credits for free coffee at Roswell’s Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee

• The walk will end next to the Nature Center’s semi-annual plant sale, should you be looking for winter plants and vegetables

Note: The Nature Center is at 9135 Willeo Rd, Roswell, GA 30075. Because of bridge construction, you must enter from the Roswell side; it is not accessible from the Cobb Co. side. Sat, Sep 25, 8:00 – 9:30am.

For questions, contact Hal Schlenger at HSchlenger@GreatSouthBenefits.com or 770.335.0077.
