History of RRC Blood Drive- Pint for a Pint
Roswell Rotary Club Featured in District 6900 Newsletter

Every month Becky Nelson submits stories to the District 6900 Newsletter highlighting projects from RRC that might be helpful to other clubs. It's a great way to highlight the work RRC is doing and share with a larger audience. This month she chose the Blood Drive Program!

Becky shares a little history, "Roswell Rotary Club has been hosting blood drives off/on for years.  During Lisa Carlisle’s year as President, for instance, “pint for a pint” meant for ice cream not beer for it was before our distilleries were open to the public!  So, we have a long and proud Club History.  This article was specifically to highlight the single-focused commitment of Darrell & Hal for being the blood drive champions now for over 5 years….."

Sometimes a club just gets lucky.  We have some dedicated folks within the Roswell Rotary Club who come in with an idea and then stay committed to it for years. This May marked the fifth anniversary of our Quarterly Blood Drive supported by the American Red Cross. May 2, 2019 was the first of now 18 blood drives championed by Roswell Rotarians Darrell Bartlett and Hal Schlenger.  In that time, 575 pints of blood have been collected helping more than 1600 folks (one pint can help up to three people.

Finding momentum through COVID, the blood drives are now a branded entity in Roswell with the slogan:  A Pint for a Pint.  As a thank you, a donor is given a business card when checking in for a free pint of beer at one of our local breweries:  Gate City Brewing or Variant Brewing.  Not only do our club members donate their blood/platelets, but it also serves as a marketing and membership recruiting effort for the wider community.  Through the constant and dependable blood drives typically hosted at one of our RRC members’ locations, Darrell & Hal have had 61 folks donate blood for the first time and have recognized one of our members, Michael Curling, for donating his 100th pint!  THANK you, Darrell, Hal and the rest of your Blood Drive crew.

NEXT BLOOD DRIVE - Wed, July 17th - 8:00am - 1:00pm - Coastal Bar & Grill

Patsy Wolff-RRC Member Honored
WellStar North Fulton Names Chapel after Patsy Wolff

Do you ever wonder what legacy you’re leaving in this world or what you’ll be remembered for?

I’m so grateful to know each of these people.

Each one of them has a passion that they fully embrace, they work hard EVERY day to make a difference in this world and in individual lives!

I personally have a heart for the WellStar North Fulton team for saving my sons life and now the chapel is named after an amazing lady, Patsy Wolff that I am fortunate enough to call a friend. Her husband Bill continues to give to his community in ways that most people will never fully understand.

Thank you to my friends Jon-Paul Croom, FACHE , Lori Allen and Rebecca Stone for making this happen.

Remember to live a life that will be remembered, leave an impact on others and make your community a better place. We all have the power to change one persons life, everyday!

Yours in Roswell Rotary,

Alicia Hughes

After Hours Raises Nearly $5k at Comedy for a Cause

Congratulations to Roswell Rotary After Hours on a successful second annual Comedy for a Cause! Six local comedians took the stage at a packed Rock 'N' Taco last week for the special fundraiser. Between the six event sponsors, dozens of tables and slew of donations, RRAH raised $4,890 for Giving Grace! The organization provides a safe space for single-parent families, persons experiencing homelessness and the extremely poor, and the money raised at Comedy for a Cause will directly support their summer camps. Thank you to everyone who came out and donated!
