This Week's Speaker: Katie Bishop Williams, Convention & Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody Katie Bishop Williams serves as the Executive Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody in Dunwoody, Ga., where she has been responsible for growing and leading the organization since its formation in November 2009. In her role, Williams leads the marketing and sales strategy and collaborates with community partners to further develop the economic development and marketing strategy for tourism.
Prior to joining the CVB of Dunwoody, Williams served as Tourism Coordinator for Destination Thomasville Tourism Authority in Thomasville, Ga. A native of Marietta, GA, she attended the University of Georgia where she received a degree in Public Relations. Additionally, is certified as a Travel Marketing Professional by Southeast Tourism Society. Williams serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus. In 2015, she was named a “30 Under 30” tourism professional by Destination Marketing Association International. Williams resides in Roswell with her husband Scott Williams and this December they will welcome twins.
New Payment Options for Paying Dues - Effective October 11, 2017
Effective with the October, 1, 2017 invoice, there will be two new payment options to make paying your dues easier. In addition to mailing in a check, you may also pay via credit card or ACH right from the electronic invoice. There will be no additional charge for this service. Save the Date: GRSP BBQ Welcome Party - October 1, 2017!
On Sunday, October 1, 2017, The Rotary Club of Dunwoody will host a BBQ party from 3PM - 7PM to welcome our GRSP student, Felipe Bassani, from Brazil. All Rotarians will have the opportunity to give a warm personal welcome and celebrate our new GRSP student . Guests can expect to indulge in some Brazilian wines, BBQ Ribs and Chicken which will be provided by Bill & Les Woulfin, A variety of side dishes and lots of memories are expected to develop soon. Let us hope for great weather, lots of laughs and a big appetite. Do not forget to bring the family to enjoy the pool and marvelous backyard, fit for grand entertainment. Mark Your Calendars: Family of Rotary Event - October 29, 2017The Rotary Club of Dunwoody is proud to announce a family fun Family of Rotary event and the dedication of the Club’s latest Brook Run Park Service Project. On Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Brook Run Park the Club will hold a Tree Planting dedication, followed by a pumpkin decorating contest and a pizza party. This is surely going to be a fun day for the entire family and especially for the kids and grand kids. There is no charge for this event. The fun will begin at 2:00 PM ET at Brook Run Park with the Club’s dedication of our new Rotary Grove. Under the direction of Ranger Fred Bounds, our club plans to plant five (5) trees a year, each year for four (4) years for a total of 20 trees. The grove is to be dedicated to those members of the armed forces from Dunwoody who served and sacrificed for our freedom. We hope to see everyone at Brook run Park to participate in this new community venture and fun filled day. Please register on the club's calendar so that we know how much food and pumpkins to order.

The cards for members and their families that circulate during our meetings are one way to express shared joy over good news or shared concern about difficulties experienced. As one of our members recently stated at his return from surgery, getting a card with heartfelt greetings from all the members present helped him feel better and heal sooner.
Once we know our friendly breakfast club is also a caring club, our dedication to "Service Above Self" is stronger and we look forward to participating in projects and events with other Rotarians. If we are in need of a service, the first call made will be to a Rotarian.
So, if you are aware of an approaching or pat event worthy of celebration or concern, please tell Dottie Toney-Ransom at toneydot@me.com. You can also write it on either a yellow card (for joy) or a blue card (for concern) and leave it on the table, or place it in Dottie's hand at the end of the meeting.
