This Week's Speaker
Ann Frazer, MUST Ministries

Join us this Friday at Maggiano's to welcome Ann Frazer, Director of Major Giving at MUST Ministries in Marietta - an organization focused on providing access to basic human needs like food, clothing and shelter - and giving people a path toward independence.  Ann been in the non-profit sector for 12 years and with MUST Ministries for two and a half years as its Director of Major Giving. Ann's role allows her to interact with our generous donor base and organizations that are critical to the work that MUST does in the community.

Ann came to MUST from St. Vincent de Paul of Georgia. Early in her career she worked in Regional Sales Management for a Fortune 200 company in the Mid-Atlantic region. Ann grew up in Marietta, attended Oglethorpe University and the University of Georgia. She currently lives in Woodstock with my husband of 32 years and have three grown children.

Interested in a tour of MUST Ministries? Read on.

Sad News
Remembering Mike Stipick

We are sad to report the passing of Jennie Stipick's husband Mike this past Monday. Mike has been an important part of our Dunwoody Family of Rotary ever since Jennie joined the club in 1994 - part of Governor's Balls and holiday luncheons, Fourth of July celebrations, and opening their home to GRSP students - as host families and host for Leadership Weekend Dinners, and so much more.

We do not have any more information about the family's plans to celebrate Mike's life, but will let you know as soon as we do. We did want to share Jennie's address with you: 275 Lakewood Drive, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Help FODAC Make a Difference This Saturday, August 8!

Last Friday, we heard from Chris Brand, CEO at FODAC, about the tremendous difference the organization is making in people's lives - whether it's local individuals struggling with a disability or people struggling across the country and around the world with emergency situations like earthquakes, hurricanes, and conflicts. Now - this Saturday, August 8 - we can be part of making that difference, as the DeKalb Rotary Council gathers for its 14th annual Home Medical Equipment Drive. Plan to join our Dunwoody team for the day - from 8:30 AM to 1 PM at the 57th Fighter Squadron Restaurant. Let Dave Burr know if you'd like to volunteer!

Whiskey Raffle Update
Jump into Whiskey Season!

The club came through and had an incredible lineup of whiskey that everyone is still talking about. We’re rallying again for this upcoming year! Several people have inquired about donations… please send all questions to Neal MacDonald and Dave Burr.

More importantly… We’re kicking off this whiskey season with a tasting at Louisiana Bistreaux!! On Thursday, August 27, there will be flight of four whiskeys paired with a four-course dinner (plus dessert!). The menu is incredible, the whiskey even better featuring two different bottlings of Booker’s Bourbon. Check out the rest of the story ... [read more]

Getting to Know You
Meet Fred Brandt, "Mr. Membership"

Many in our club affectionately regard Fred Brandt as "Mr. Membership." Having served in that role for much of recent memory, Fred has personally recruited and sponsored dozens of our members over the years. Yet, his Rotary journey originally began back in 1987 when Bill Mulkey persuaded him to join. Although Fred and his wife, Kathy, temporarily moved away, they returned to the area shortly after, and Fred proudly rejoined our club in 1994.  Throughout his decades of service, Fred developed a deep passion for international service, serving as our Director of International Service for seven years and leading our club as President during the 2002–2003 Rotary year. And there's more ...

Speaker Honorariums
Dunwoody Supports LifeLine Animal Project

One of the finest traditions of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody is our practice of honoring guest speakers by making a direct and meaningful impact in our community. For every speaker who shares their time, knowledge, and insights with our club, we donate $100 to a designated charitable cause chosen by the club president. It is my privilege to announce that our presidential charity of choice is LifeLine Animal Project.  LifeLine plays a vital, compassionate role across Metro Atlanta by managing both the DeKalb County and Fulton County Animal Shelters. Their tireless commitment to transforming animal welfare, improving shelter conditions, and promoting lifelong pet ownership has saved tens of thousands of homeless pets.

Join the Jeremy Lebonte Memorial 5K

Join the Roswell community and the Rotary Club of Roswell as they lace up their running shoes to honor a local hero. The Jeremy Labonte Memorial 5K is more than just a race; it is a community-wide tribute to a man who gave his all for our safety, and a chance for us to come together to support the men and women who wear the badge. It will take place on August 22 at 8 am, starting at Sweet Apple Elementary School in Roswell.

Roswell Police Officer Jeremy Labonte was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a suspicious person report on February 7, 2025. Officer Labonte made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the citizens of Roswell, Georgia. We run to remember his bravery, his service, and his unwavering dedication to keeping our community safe.

You can be part of this tribute to a fallen officer by using this link to sign up for this race.
