Join us this Friday, September 5 at Maggiano's to welcome Greg Dozier, Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia.
In January 2020, Governor Brian Kemp appointed Greg Dozier as the sixth Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). As Commissioner, Dozier is responsible for the 22 technical colleges of TCSG and leads a team of more than 12,000 employees across the system. Dozier has the responsibility of managing an annual budget of more than $1.1 billion. [more]
We are in Week 1 of September - our month to gather bottles of whiskey and other collectible spirits for the raffle. It is very important that we reach our prize pool goal in order to market and sell tickets in October and November!
To reach our goal of selling 1,000 tickets, we need to be able to advertise the prizes. We need 30 – 40 bottles of whiskey to reach this goal. We prefer donated bottles where possible, but we need our active membership to acquire some prestige whiskeys. Talk to your friends; talk to your network; talk to your bartenders… but be on the watch for prestige bottles that would be appealing to people and help sell raffle tickets. What's a "prestige bottle?" Keep reading. [more]
Over his impressive 45-year career with Greenville, SC schools, Ed Holliday transformed Stone Elementary into Stone Academy, a magnet school that drew students to downtown Greenville by choice. He brings the same passion to Rotary, where he's most enjoyed working with high school students as the Interact sponsor and creating the Service Above Self scholarship. He's also been a dedicated reader for the Laws of Life competition and a counselor for our club's exchange student.
Ed encourages us to continue our legacy as "Club of the Year" by
finding new ways to fund our long-standing projects. When he's not busy serving
the community, he and his wife, Judy, who live in Dunwoody, Georgia, love to
travel. This year, they spent a month on an Oceania cruise, exploring Asia, and
their next adventure is planned for Barcelona. His family, including his son,
Brad, in Cumming, GA, and daughter, Emily, in Decatur, GA, keeps him busy with
news of cheerleading, dance competitions, and their young grandchildren - Lucy,
Ruby, Henry, and Audry who are pictured above.
This Saturday night, Dunwoody is heading to The Gwinnett Stripers game. As a reminder, game time is at 6:00 pm at Cool Ray Field, 2500 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30043. Like last year, we will be sitting on the first base side. Tickets are $ 20 each and kids under 12 can attend free of charge. Attendees will be responsible for arranging for their own food and refreshments. This night is Chipper Jones Bobblehead night. If you want to attend please email Sherry Levy at sherrylevy13@hotmail.com or contact Rick Otness at otness_r@mindspring.com.
