While we are celebrating Thanksgiving with our families, also take time to be grateful that we do all that we do in our community and around the world.
Case in point: Last week's partnering with others in the Dunwoody community to support the creation of Harvest Baskets for 85 needy families at Kingsley Elementary. We have been involved in this initiative for several years - thanks to the leadership of Anita and Charlie Augello and their family.
Our participation includes some funding AND being on-hand to load baskets for recipients on distribution day. But perhaps the highlight is the "turkey trot" - not a 5K race but rather a run through the local Publix to buy holiday turkeys - because there's a two-turkey limit for any one buyer. So Dunwoody gathered its crew and ran back and forth with turkeys a week or so before Thanksgiving, and a day or two before basket distribution. There's more to the story.

Next Friday, December 5, we'll join together at the Dunwoody Country Club for our annual Holiday Luncheon. We hope you and your guest can join us - festivities begin with check-in starting at 11 am and a program starting at 11:30 am. Come see your Dunwoody Family of Rotary and enjoy the Dresden Elementary Choir. Please RSVP this week if you can to Alison Norris by email at CallingDunwoodyHome@gmail.com.
As you know, we are continuing our tradition of supporting the Marines and their Toys for Tots Drive this holiday season. We will have a table at the Holiday Luncheon on December 5 to collect your donations. This year - with rising costs for everything - helps families make the holidays special is more challenging - and more important! You can help with toys, bikes, games, craft kits, dolls and more. Do your buying now and bring your unwrapped contributions to the Holiday Luncheon. If you have any questions, contact Jim Glass. Please help us support this great work!
Last week we heard from Julia, our GRSP student from Brazil. For the January 30-February 1, 2025 weekend, we'll be welcoming the entire GRSP class to Dunwoody. Put the dates on your calendar now and think about hosting students for the weekend in your home - it's an amazing opportunity to get to know college students from other parts of the world.
Ron and Louise Barden are inviting you to join in a 12th Night Wine Fellowship on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 3-5 pm. Bring a bottle of wine or other beverage and a snack to share. Mulled wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. And let's keep our Christmas garb out for an extra week - we invite you to wear your ugly Christmas sweater ... Or a pretty Christmas sweater ... or whatever.
The party will be at 5576 Colbert Trail, Peachtree Corners, GA. Our home phone is 770 447-9281.
