A native Atlantan and Eagle Scout, Doug earned his Electrical Engineering degree with Honor from Georgia Tech after graduation from Peachtree High in Dunwoody. During college, Doug completed the cooperative education plan with Georgia Power Company, while serving as President of his fraternity, President of Executive Round Table, and President of the FASET Council. Doug is retired President, CEO, and Owner and current Board Chair of Control Southern Inc., a 280 employee-owned automation engineering firm headquartered in Johns Creek, GA, focused on serving the Commercial Power, Paper, Chemical and Life Sciences Industry.
During Doug’s 21 years as CEO, the company grew at an annual double-digit pace, being honored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of Atlanta’s fastest growing private companies in 2013 and 2014. With a passion for servant leadership, Doug previously served as an Assistant Scoutmaster, a Life Group leader and as a youth soccer coach for 18 years. Doug also served as an active member of a Vistage CEO group, and as a Board member for Strategic Growth Partners, an alliance of automation engineering companies throughout North America. A member of the Atlanta Area Council Board since 2016, Doug currently serves as VP of Membership on the Executive Board.
Doug currently serves on the Board of Experitec Inc and on the Board of Wellstar N. Fulton Hospital. He is a member of the Cliffco Entrepreneur Group along with participating on the Entrepreneur & Innovation Committee of the Scheller School of Management at Georgia Tech. Doug and his wife Julie have been married for 37 years and have three children and two grandchildren. He enjoys sports, history, traveling, and running, completing his 41st consecutive Peachtree Road Race in July. Doug’s passion is developing leaders into their full potential.
