Many in our club affectionately regard Fred Brandt as "Mr. Membership." Having served in that role for much of recent memory, Fred has personally recruited and sponsored dozens of our members over the years. Yet, his Rotary journey originally began back in 1987 when Bill Mulkey persuaded him to join. Although Fred and his wife, Kathy, temporarily moved away, they returned to the area shortly after, and Fred proudly rejoined our club in 1994.

Throughout his decades of service, Fred developed a deep passion for international service, serving as our Director of International Service for seven years and leading our club as President during the 2002–2003 Rotary year. His involvement with the Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) saw his family host four international students. Furthermore, Fred championed three major international service projects across three continents: Poland, Bermuda, and Australia. And he led a Group Study Exchange team of four young professionals to Australia for a month-long cultural and vocational exchange.

For Fred, international service represents the core reason Rotary exists—a unique feature he rarely sees in other community organizations. Our members share his enthusiasm, and looking to the future, Fred would like to see our club embark on even larger and more impactful service projects.

When he isn't busy advancing Rotary’s global reach or welcoming new faces, he proudly serves as a board director for the Dunwoody Police Foundation. Fred enjoys relaxing by the water. His next vacation always involves a beach, continuing a cherished family tradition of visiting Hilton Head regularly since 1980.
